As part of “American Dream Week,” President Trump introduced the RAISE Act to address how green cards are issued in our immigration system. Senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue joined the President in announcing their proposed “Reforming American Immigration and Strong Economy Act” to make America more competitive, raise wages, and create jobs for American workers. This act would limit immigration to the immigrant being issued a green card, his or her spouse, and minor children. Provisions of the current system that also admit adult siblings, adult sons and daughters, and parents would end. The Act would create a point system based on education, the ability to support one’s family, the ability to speak English, and age. The top scorers would be selected for green cards. The level of immigration would likely drop by 40 percent. Fixing immigration to admit fewer unskilled workers, phase out chain migration, and simplify the admission of exceptional talents will be an enormous accomplishment and will contribute to the health of our economy. A+

The Trump administration has quietly accomplished more than it appears. An article in “The Atlantic” points out that, amid the chaos surrounding the administration, it is remaking the justice system, rewriting environmental rules, overhauling public-lands’ administration, and greenlighting major infrastructure projects. The President’s appointment of conservative justices to lower court positions in record-setting numbers is an important part of this achievement. By his six month anniversary, the President had nominated 18 people for district judgeship vacancies, 14 for circuit courts and the Court of Federal Claims, and 23 for US attorney slots. In the first six months, President Trump nominated 55 people, and the previous administration, just 22. These youthful, conservative nominees will change the face of the courts for years to come. Ultimately, this could very well be considered the Trump legacy. A+.

It’s time for the President to end the bailout of Congress’ health care which is worth about $12,000.00 per year for each lawmaker. It was designed to exempt them from the law they created.
