- Your educational background, experience and demonstrations of leadership?
Ans. Serve on First Craven Sanitary Water Board (approx. 2,400 customers). Studied business and business law in college. Have run a business for 25 years, balanced budgets, and met payroll.
- Memberships and associations?
Ans. Joined CCTA; feel someone needs to look after taxpayers.
- Why are you running for this office?
Ans. Two primary reasons. I want more services and jobs located on my side of the river. If anyone on the Bridgeton side wants to go to the bank or mail a package, they need to cross the river; I want to attract more jobs and services. I also want the Board and the Sheriff’s office to work together to stop the opiod crisis and to shut down drug dealers. Historically, communication between the two has not been good; that needs to change.
- As a representative of Coastal North Carolina, what is your stance on regulation of recreational and commercial fishing?
Ans. Fishing (both commercial and recreational) is over taxed (fees too high) and over regulated.
- Would you support a ban on Sharia Law or any other foreign law in America?
Ans. Yes, absolutely!
- What place does God have in public schools?
Ans. I grew up with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. When you take God out of something, you ruin it.
- Should high school students be taught our founding history and the details of the U.S. Constitution?
Ans. Absolutely!
- Would you support a law to remove requirements for a “Certificate of Need?”
Ans. I’m in favor of doing away with it for anyone who is qualified to render the service (like run a surgery center, etc.). Monopolies are not a good idea.
- What is your position on gun registration, gun free zones, and concealed carry laws?
Ans. I have a concealed carry license. I am for permitting teachers and staff who are qualified to carry in schools. I support the concealed carry laws.
- Do you support border security including the wall and better controlled immigration?
Ans. Absolutely!
- What is your view on nullification and interposition?
Ans. When the federal government makes a law about something the U.S. Constitution doesn’t give it the power to handle, then, yes, the state should have the right to do that.
