The following is our prepared statement:

Dear General Assembly Member:

The Coastal Carolina Taxpayers Association (CCTA) is joining other members of the Conservative Coalition of NC to draw your attention to some of our common concerns.  We’re here today along with members of the Education First Alliance NC, the NC Asian American Coalition, Liberty First Grassroots, the Asheville Tea Party (via phone calls), and the Eastern NC Tea Party because we care about our state and our republic.

We need to be sure ELLECTION INTEGRITY is restored in NC.  You know the kind of thing that is needed.  Tighten up on vulnerable machines, the number of days during which one may vote, voter identification, eligibility, and residence confirmation.

We want you to stop the spread of hate and discontent in NC SCHOOLS.  Critical Race Theory has no place in our taxpayer funded schools.  All white people are not racists.  Western civilization and our country did not develop based primarily on race.  Success in life is based on a good work ethic, good manners, and good grooming, not race.

We want NO “COVID PASSPORTS” in NC.  Medical decisions are personal and private.  They should be made by the principle (or his or her parent) with the advice of a physician or other medical professional.

The SECOND ADMENDMENT means exactly what it says.  We want you to see that our right to defend ourselves from any threat (including the threat posed by an overreaching, tyrannical government) in NC.

We thank the NC House for having passed the EMERGENCY POWERS ACCOUNTABILITY ACT (HB 264) so that a governor cannot unilaterally close down our state for months on end.  We ask that the Senate Rules Committee quickly report the bill out for a full Senate vote, and we ask the NC Senate to pass that good bill.

Raynor James, Chairman, CCTA’s Legislative Action Committee
